What Launching The PRO Method at CarFest Taught Me

This past weekend, I officially popped my festival speaking cherry at Chris Evans’ CarFest at Silverstone. Between two speaking engagements and book signings to launch my new book The PRO Method, the energy was electric and it felt the perfect way to bring some reinvention magic into the world. But, amid the noise, the crowds, the roar of engines on the racetrack – not to mention the challenge of navigating the vast festival grounds with my family – what stood out to me most wasn't just the thrill of being there in a speaker capacity, it was the deep, surprising conversations it sparked...

It was a total joy to launch my new book The PRO Method at Chris Evans' CarFest at Silverstone this weekend. I even got to sign copies of all of my books.

Taking a new framework out of the pages and bringing it to life in front of live audiences on a festival stage brought five big realisations into sharp focus for me. I learnt so much about the value this coaching book is bringing to people"

1. People are Hungry to Talk About "What’s Next?"

Whether someone came up to chat to me after a talk or queued up at the book signing, the underlying question was almost always the same: I feel like I've reached a crossroads. Where do I go from here?

No matter our background, achievements, or even our age, there is a collective itch to figure out the next chapter. In a world that feels as though it is evolving fast before our eyes, people are actively looking for greater alignment, direction, and a framework for what comes next. It felt incredibly special to be able to share The PRO Method with them and talk about the neuroscience behind this self-coaching tool that is accessible for everyone.

So many people came to speak to me after each event, feeling 'seen' in different parts of my story from burnout to breakthrough via perimenopause, an identity crisis, retraining and a career overhaul. We packed a lot in!

2. Strangers are Exceptionally Supportive

Stepping onto a festival stage can feel unpredictable. You aren't speaking to a captive boardroom; you're speaking to people who might be walking past with kids in tow, wondering what they have stumbled upon here.

Yet, the warmth and openness of complete strangers was overwhelming. People paused, reflected, listened, leaned in, and shared deeply personal stories. It was a incredible reminder of how supportive human beings can be when you show up authentically and with an open mind.

3. Gen X is Navigating a Major Moment of Career Transition

If there was a distinct theme running through my conversations – the palpable shift happening for Generation X. The old playbook simply doesn't apply anymore. The traditional conversations around career progression, retirement, and work-life balance have changed. Gen Xers are actively redefining what mid-career and mid-life look like. Coupled with the rising burnout statistics, especially for midlife women, and greater awareness of the changes that happen to us during perimenopause and menopause, it can feel incredibly isolating to feel like you're changing, you're not yourself, but you don't know where on earth to start seeking the support you might need. Making space for these conversations feels more important than ever.

I was blown away by the number of vulnerable conversations I had with people after my talks, it can feel so reassuring to know we are not alone in whatever we are going through. Cassandra, pictured here, was so lovely.

4. We Forget to Pause (and We Need the Reminder)

Here is the honest truth: the core principles of The PRO Method: Pause, Reflect, Organise, are not magic or woo-woo. They are fundamental truths about human potential and our physiology. The problem is that modern life moves at such a rapid pace it forces us to forget the basics. We get so caught up in the execution and in achieving output, that we forget to pause, step back to restore our energy, recalibrate and evaluate what we are actually doing. Sometimes, the most valuable thing a speaker or book can do is simply give people permission to hit pause and be reminded of what matters the most.

5. It’s Always Great to Bring Your Family Along

One of the absolute highlights of the weekend was having my husband and two sons there with me. Since I made a conscious decision to better integrate family life with my work – rather than keep those worlds separate – I have reaped the rewards in so many ways.

Watching my boys run around being my photographers, engage with the content on stage, process the concepts, meet new people and then immediately run off to enjoy the live music and stomach-churning fairground rides was special and memory making. Sharing these milestones with family keeps me grounded, aligns with my value that 'family comes first', and reminds me why I have chosen to do this work in the first place.

Meeting CarFest founder Chris Evans was a really fun moment for all of us, as we have listened to his breakfast radio show for years. Thankfully he was as lovely as we hoped he would be!

The Takeaway

CarFest was a whirlwind of energy, connection, and loud engines, but the core lesson was really quite simple: we all need space to pause and reflect on the big questions. And sometimes a new environment is the perfect place to do that. If you’ve been running on autopilot lately, take this as your sign to book something fun; something unexpected. It might just turn out to be the best weekend you've had in a long time.
