Hello and welcome
I’m Rosie. I was born and bred in London and now live in Surrey with my two boys, husband Callum, and our two cats.
After a thrilling time as Editor in Chief and Editor of HELLO! magazine, and latterly HELLO!'s Editor at Large, having worked for the brand for sixteen years, I decided it was time to super-charge my career and set up my own business. Rosie's Reinvention Retreats was launched in September 2024 - we provide curated luxury day retreats for midlife women. I feel as though I have found my purpose! You can read more about my Retreats here. I also flex my creative muscles for brands as a consultant and creator, plus I write books, both fiction and non-fiction.
Before HELLO! I held senior positions at many national women's magazines including Grazia, Glamour and Red. My first role in magazines was Editor of Barbie magazine. (That's not why I'm wearing pink in this photo! Although it is one of my favourite colours).
You could say I have matured along with my media life. In 2017 I won the British Society of Magazine Editors' coveted Editor of the Year award (celebrity and entertainment). I enjoy a portfolio career now, mixing many of my work passions and utilising my skills as a media expert, author, coach and broadcaster...
‘Kindness is your superpower’
From Magazine Production to Purpose-Driven Media Initiatives
As the media world has evolved, so have I, diversifying my skills to suit the times. I have swapped putting a magazine to press every week for hosting a podcast about female leadership for HELLO! and M&S called Shake The Table. I relish hosting events and using my platform to support and inspire women.
Some HELLO! highlights include the time I partnered with Dover Street Market to produce a host of HELLO!-inspired merch; the time I launched a ‘friendship’ candle with Jo Malone CBE; and the weeks when my team and I smashed sales records, including breaking the world exclusive wedding of Robbie Williams to Ayda Field and managing the editorial coverage of the Royal wedding of Prince William to the then Kate Middleton, plus Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle. Fun and memorable times!
Writing is in my blood
From a young age, when I wasn’t cutting out the song lyrics from Smash Hits and refashioning them into my own magazine, I was writing letters and filling the pages of my diary. Writing is in my blood. Finally, I decided to fulfil my ambition to write a book and in 2016 Harper Collins published my first novel, The Stylist. My job as a glossy magazine editor inevitably helped with the subject matter but, I assure you, everything is fiction.
The following year I wrote the sequel Amber Green Takes Manhattan, and my third novel Just Between Friends – a thriller based around a baby group – was published in 2020. My novels have been published around the world and I am welcoming opportunities to discuss adaption for the screen.
During the pandemic I had the idea of collecting together a series of essays, tips and pearls of wisdom from some of my famous friends and contacts, on the subject of kindness. I was blown away by the response and my first non-fiction title Be Kind was born. It was also published by my pals at HQ Stories (Harper Collins), and has been rereleased in paperback in 2024. It was a proud moment to see this book used to inspire teenage girls in a school’s programme in Devon. I am passionate about the power of kindness and I love speaking on this subject.
I have two more books in the works – a third title in The Stylist series which will be published in 2025 and another non-fiction book. I write best with a lit candle by my side.
Living life to the full
After coming close to burn out in 2022, I began thinking about what I wanted the next chapter of my working life to be about. Rosie's Reinvention Retreats are the practical, accessible retreat I was looking for (and which didn’t exist), when I started to question what my midlife was going to be about. Leaving my ‘big job’ felt like a scary prospect, but when I was forced to finally tune-in to the persistent little voice in my head telling me to do something new, after a lot of thinking, learning, planning and action I have built a much more fulfilling way of life for my fifties and beyond. Now, I am passionate about helping hundreds of other mid-lifers do the same. With a solid background in journalism, a bulging little black book and having qualified as a life coach, my team and I bring an exciting, carefully-curated vision to a holistic retreat experience – all with a sprinkling of stardust, of course! Reinvention feels a lot less daunting when you start planning the second act you deserve. Whether it’s reinventing your working life, starting a small business, writing the book you've been dreaming about, or getting a grip on your wellbeing, including tackling the menopause and burnout, you are not alone. Qualified coach
In 2023 I qualified as a life coach passing my Associate Coach Diploma from Optimus Coach Academy. I absolutely love helping my clients through career and life transitions, enabling them to find the tools to realise a more purposeful and fulfilling lifestyle. I work with clients 1-1, and am available for group sessions and motivational talks. I have launched my retreats business to provide even more coaching to groups keen for a holistic, practical and results-driven experience.
I regularly use my wealth of experience in the media world as a mentor too. I have some fanastic contacts ;-)
Doing my bit to make a positive difference to the world
I am a proud ambassador for the women’s health charity Wellbeing of Women and anti-FGM charity Educate Not Mutilate. I love being able to use my voice to highlight issues affecting the women of Britain today and was particularly proud of spearheading the launch of the Menopause Workplace Pledge campaign for HELLO! magazine and Wellbeing of Women in 2021, which has seen over 2000 companies, pledge to better support women going through the perimenopause and menopause in the workplace.
I launched and hosted the annual HELLO! Star Women Awards, devised to shine a spotlight on inspirational personalities both famous and non-famous and I was a leading voice in HELLO!'s powerful #hellotokindness campaign which aims to see a kinder world online. Empowering others is at the core of everything I do.
