The emotional reason I decided to write my new book - and how it can support you

I am absolutely delighted, emosh, and proud to share some very big news:
I have written a new book! It’s called The PRO Method – and it is officially available to pre‑order.
This book is incredibly special to me. What began as a moment of feeling utterly derailed by burnout in 2022 has unfolded into the most magic chapter of my life and career yet. It led me deep into the neuroscience of change, into my coaching qualifications, and into the work I now feel most called to do on my Reinvention Retreats. All of this I have poured into The PRO Method, a framework for reinvention. And today's the day I finally get to tell you all about it!

The Moment Everything Changed
For many of us there comes a moment when you realise it’s time to do life differently.
For me, that moment arrived one morning in October 2022. I was in my late forties, deep into a career I had poured decades into, and life felt full, busy, chaotic. I had spent almost fifteen years as Editor‑in‑Chief of HELLO! magazine – a huge stretch of my career – and I was used to running on adrenalin. Breaking news, management meetings, events, Royal and showbiz coverage, racing back home for bedtime with my boys… it was a world I knew intimately and it was my day-to-day. But on that particular morning, it felt utterly overwhelming and thankless.
I had been away hosting a big event for the magazine. When I woke up, exhausted, I noticed missed FaceTime calls from my boys – then aged 9 and 7 – from the day before. That tiny detail tipped me over the edge. I collapsed onto the hotel bed in tears, unable to “pull myself together” anymore. That moment was the beginning of a slippery slope to burnout.
My nervous system had finally had enough. Something had to change before I made myself very unwell. When the doctor signed me off work for several weeks, I was forced, for the first time in years, to pause. To reflect. To ask myself what I wanted this next chapter to be about.
Looking back, I now see that moment not as a crisis – but as a calling. A big, wild, important midlife calling. And it was time to tune in and listen.

The Question The Sparked My Reinvention
I had spent more than two decades in the media world, holding senior roles at Grazia, Glamour, Red, before HELLO! – telling stories, shaping narratives, and championing women’s voices. But somewhere between leading teams, raising my boys, moving out of London, and carrying the mental load so many of us shoulder, I realised I had stopped paying attention to my own story. I was moving fast, achieving plenty, but I was out of sync with my internal voice which was beginning to scream: This isn't working for me anymore!
During the time I was off work recovering, the question, 'What does success mean to me now?' became the spark for my reinvention – and it’s the spark behind the retreats I now lead and the work I feel most aligned with: helping women step into their next chapter with confidence, clarity and courage.
Women, especially in midlife, are praised for being capable, admired for holding everything together, but not always supported in carving out space for our own development. The concept of a “pause” is so undervalued that we often only stop when stress, exhuastion or burnout forces us to. My work now is about changing that narrative.
Over two years, I quietly worked my way out of HELLO! and retrained as a life coach. In 2024, I created Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats. I see women arrive carrying decades of responsibility, wisdom, and often exhaustion – and I watch them leave with a renewed sense of self. A twinkle in their eyes. A plan. A belief that their next chapter can be the best one yet. But it has to begin with a pause.

Reinvent Like A PRO®: A Framework for change
My reinvention unfolded through a simple but transformative framework I now teach:
The PRO Method — Pause, Reflect, Organise
It is a 3‑step method rooted in neuroscience and backed by lived experience. And you follow it in this order:
Pause
Society rewards speed and constant output, but meaningful change starts when you stop, even briefly, and let your nervous system settle.
For me, pausing is now a way of life, some of the rituals I have include:
• No phone in the bedroom
• Looking at the sky before I look at a screen
• My morning walk or run in nature (to an ancient Yew tree when I can)
• A few grounding breaths before a meeting
These tiny pause moments help me make decisions from a place of calm rather than overwhelm.
Reflect
Reflection is where you get curious. Journaling, asking yourself what matters most, what are your values, your needs, your hopes for the future? Name the emotions that come up for you – be honest. This is where reinvention begins to take shape, before you make an decisions about what you're going to do.
Organise
Here is where insight becomes action. But start small. Think about what you can do in the next 24 hours if that is all you need to think about in this moment. Small steps lead to lasting change. Consider how you will hold yourself accountable on your reinvention – perhaps by diarising your steps forward as you would any important meeting, asking a friend to hold you accountable, to signing up for some coaching.
I believe in the power of PRO so deeply that I have it engraved on a bracelet I wear every day. More to come on this topic soon!!

How gorgeous is this cover? I love the colours, they feel full of energy and inspiration. Please feel free to share it, if it calls to you!
Introducing: The PRO Method
This book is designed to be your companion through burnout, overwhelm, and life’s crossroads. It is a place to start when change is calling but you don’t know where to begin.
Inside, I talk you through:
• understanding what you want from the next chapter
• creating sustainable change aligned with who you are becoming
• taking steps forward from a place of calm and clarity
This is the book I wish existed when I no longer felt I belonged in my work identity and I was desperate for something new but it felt too scary to listen to that little internal voice. How I wish I could have had this book to turn to. There is even a journalling section in the book to help you design your future, page by page.
This book is not just for midlife women – it’s for all ages and stages At a time when the data shows we are a burnt‑out nation, my deepest hope is that this book becomes a practical tool for individuals and organisations who want to address stress and support wellbeing.
Perhaps it’s not a crisis – perhaps reinvention is calling.
Pre‑Order Now (Advance Orders Matter So Much, And I'll Love You Forever!)
The PRO Method is available to pre‑order from all book outlets now, and advance orders make a huge difference to authors as they indicate to the publisher how popular a book might be and they base the print order on this. I would love to see this book fall into the hands of everyone who really needs it – from students graduating and wondering how to navigate what they stand for in a crowded world; to people on the cusp of burnout; to those knee-deep in it knowing something has to change, and fast.
I would be so, so grateful if you might consider adding it to your basket.
I am also welcoming opportunities to get this book into as many hands as possible in the coming months – events, podcasts, panels, partnerships. My DMs are open.
This book is dedicated to my community of Reinventors – thank you so much for being here, for reading this, for considering a pre-order. This book is for you.
With love,
